The Condo Boom part 1

January 31, 2016 - In 2015, Cutter Chrysler / Fiat relocated across Ala Moana Boulevard to make room for Vida, a $500 million condo tower quite in the style of the rapidly-gentrifying Kakaako district. The old dealership was shuttered, stripped, and prepared for demolition. On January 23, 2016, the Honolulu Star Advertiser reported that Vida had been cancelled, apparently due to softening demand in the money-to-burn tier of the condo market. Meanwhile, just down the street, a homeless encampment grew. The newspaper did not speculate on how long the Cutter Chrysler ruins might sit vacant.
